The inspiration for all my work originates in a child-like, tactile fascination, experimenting with the traditional paint palette; of spreading and mixing colours in novel ways. An old paint palette that I had used for years sparked my interest in the idea of lost and escaping paint; and I have tried to recreate this through layered, textured artwork. This has become my characteristic style, and I use this technique to capture scenes of everyday life that would otherwise seem mundane. Now that I have mastered paint as a vehicle for sentiment, I want to focus on its uses as the subject itself, rather than just the medium.
